Default Cutting HDPE Is Non Fun....

I have a cheap Jig Saw that I utilize to cut the wal-mart cutting lath and the plastic melts back together backside the bract when I cut. How do you guys go around this problem. Should I just apply a mitt saw or something (but I like power tools....), or should I use a hot pocketknife?

Adjust the speed of the blade to a slower setting, utilize light auto oil on the cut line, use the opaque HDPE,... The translucent stuff is hard to cut!

I just use the opaque type. It'southward been posted that it'southward more brittle, but I haven't plant that to be truthful. Information technology could exist a climate affair though.

I use a hand saw for the straight from the border cuts, so put a small-scale drill in your dremmel and use it like a rotor nothing/ router, take your time and let it cut. It might cook dorsum a piddling simply you tin just break it off and trim with exato knife.

I use a band saw with a very form blade, and get slow. Too fast and information technology does the melting thing. I've tried several types of cut lath, and I'1000 a believer that the harder it is to cutting, the amend it is. I'g sold on the milky white translucent Wal-Mart ploy boards that love to melt and are generally a hurting to cut out. Kraut got some opaque poly board from LOWES, and it cuts much easier, but he has as well had trouble with self borer screws losening up, and has had to get to bolts and nuts. I haven't had anything come loose and take yet to suspension a translucent mountain, and apply zero merely self tapping screws.

I used a fine tooth woods saw (from the miter box), a regular wood saw, a Hacksaw, a KeyHole Saw (for sheetrock), hobby saws and a RotoZip tool (sears brand).
The only saw that failed to cut (melt-behind) was my Saber Saw.
It only has 2 speeds Super-Fast and the slower Melting-fast.

The RotoZip routes out servo holes real fast. But you have to get tedious and easy or information technology will eat upward areas that you desire to keep!

I use my Craftsman fourteen.4V cordless circular saw. On a fresh charge, information technology cuts through the poly board similar butter.

Since my cordless worked so well, I idea a regular round saw would work equally well. Non and then. Handheld circular saws, table saws, and power miter boxes all get bound up in the plastic.

I use a Rotozip with a tile cutting scrap and it does great. I merely go irksome and it does a adept job.I so have my dremel with a sanding drum and clean upwards the edges.

I picked up one of those tile cutters (carbide?) and I'k going to endeavour it out on some ane/eight" K-10 (FG PCB) to see if I can make a lighter motor mount.
I have a bunch of 1000-10 and only three/4 of a cutting board

Luckly no one was in the way, but it was with enough strength to cause injury. BE Conscientious Exist Conscientious BE Conscientious!!!

This is another area of mystery, but like diverse coro gluing methods piece of work for some and not for others. I use HDPE from a plastic supply place. It's milky white in color, but yous can't see through it. It is about the easiest material to cut, with any tool, that I've ever used. I commonly use my radial arm saw with a carbide tip blade, and it but makes nice little soft chips. I've never seen the melting thing you lot'all describe. I utilise an Xacto pocketknife to trim it. Drilling makes overnice little curvy things up the drill flutes.

It appears that the stuff called HDPE comes in a lot of diversity.

I utilise a scrollsaw to cutting mine, low speed setting and a low tooth count on the blade. I employ the poly boards from walmart. I start tried some stuff I got a Target and information technology melted real bad even on the slower setting. I tried a "hammer test" between the two types and the Target stuff bankrupt in half with 2 hits, the walmart stuff broke too but with most twice the hitting ability and after almost v hits.

I used two tools to cut my motor mount, for the crude dimensions I used a regular wood saw by the Stanley Works, then when i got my motor, I used a RotoZip to cutting out the place for the motor to become. I was really surprised that the RotoZip didn't crusade any gooing of the poly board. Just a idea.

The streamers of super-sparse plastic that come up off the Rotozip float around and stick to everthing in sight.
Next time, I'grand making the mountain outdoors!

If you lot experience you must cut this stuff with a tablesaw, be sure and utilise a push stick. Condom spectacles, and information technology wouldnt injure to take on a atheletic cup, hockey goalie mask, and a catchers chest protector. Dont enquire how I know this
